Panels

Panelists are individuals who volunteer their time to run panels or other type of events. These individuals are able to host a wide number of events but they must first be cleared by Animaritime's Programming Department.

Panel Applications link. Panel applications close on April 1st.

The first 15 lead panelists who apply (and are approved) for three panels will be refunded their weekend badge!

Rules:

  • Panelists must be a minimum of 14 years of age. However, a consent form will be required for all panelists under the age of 18. Ideally there should be one individual 18 years or older to ensure that the panel is age appropriate for the youngest attendee.

  • The person applying is known as the lead panelist. If they intend to have additional panelists, the lead panelist will be responsible for the behaviours and actions of the other panelists during the panel.

  • After the panel has been accepted, the panelist(s) will be given a probation period. During this time, they will confirm that they are registered with the convention and consider any final adjustments to their application. Failing to confirm registration or attempting to make changes after this period will result in the application being denied.

  • For attendees, this probation period ends two weeks after acceptance. Artists and Vendors applying for the exhibition room will have a probation period for the duration of the processing of their exhibition application. Following the probation period, details of the event will be published online for attendees.

  • Applications will be processed within 30 days; if the applicant is not contacted after 30 days, please email programming@animaritime.org as soon as possible.

  • Noncompliance with the rules above may cause your application to be denied or confirmed event canceled. Animaritime staff reserve the right to deny any event.

What to expect of the application:

  • Provide basic information about all panelists involved. This includes full name(s),  date of birth, registration number(s), email(s), and the days they will be attending.

  • The applicant will have options for different types of events (panel, event, or workshop), the length of time (50, 80, or 110 minutes), and age ratings (G, 13+, 16+, or 18+).

  • The applicant will also need to provide a title, a description (3 sentences which will be in the reg book), and a detailed explanation of their panel.

  • A separate application must be filled in for each panel.

  • Please provide additional information (portfolios, samples of work or skills) within the allocated space as it may enhance your panel application.

  • The panelist must ensure that they have all materials needed to run their panel.  The application will be asked to provide detailed information pertaining to the materials within the application.

  • Any materials supplied by the convention will also be listed. Please note that: loss of convention supplied items will result in a fee so please leave them in the room after the panel. If a specialized cable is required, please bring it along.

  • Panelists cannot choose the time of their event, but efforts will be made to accommodate requests.

  • All panelists must be able to respond to emails from Animaritime staff in a timely manner.
