Fanart Contest

Rules and Regulations:

  1.  All entries will be posted at-con for viewing. Judging will take place Saturday night after the convention.

  2. Artwork can be submitted either electronically to artcontest@animaritime.org (convention staff will then print a copy) or a hard copy can be brought to the Info Desk.

  3. Please note that the image quality for electronic submissions must be either 300ppi or a wallpaper size of 1024 pixels by 768 pixels. If your picture is not clear, or is an incorrect size, you will be contacted by the Art Contest Manager.

  4.  There are three experience levels to the art contest: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Beginner means that you are relatively new to the fanart world, you’re working on or have mastered the basics and want to show off your abilities. Intermediate means that you have a good grasp of the basics and are moving on to the tougher techniques and you want to put your skills to the test. Advanced means that you’ve got your techniques down pat, you’re focusing now on perfecting your craft through the little details, and you really want to strut your stuff.

  5. Please decide your experience level carefully as it cannot be changed after end of day on Friday. Staff members will not alter the level you have chosen without your permission; however, pieces that have obviously been placed in a lower category (i.e.: an advanced piece that has been entered as “beginner” in order to guarantee a prize) may be removed to ensure a fair contest.

  6.  Entries must be the original work of the attendee, nothing plagiarized will be accepted. This does not mean you can only submit original characters (this is a fanart contest, after all), but it does mean that you have not traced your work or stolen your idea from another contestant and/or the internet. (Note: This year is a convention of Magical Girls, plagiarized work will be discovered by our companions. I guarantee it)

  7.  No “R-rated” submissions will be accepted to the contest. We are a family friendly convention and the submissions will be posted for everyone to view: if the staff feel the piece is not appropriate for all ages then it will not be considered. Specifically, we will not accept any nudity, or extreme/explicit violence.

  8. Animaritime is not responsible for any artwork that is submitted late.

  9. Participants must be attendees of Animaritime.

  10. No A.I. art work will be accepted.

  11.   Do not submit originals; only physical photocopies/copies and or digitally submitted pieces will be accepted. Submissions will be displayed on the walls and they will not be monitored. If you submit an original piece, Animaritime is not responsible for its damage or theft.

  12.  Failure to follow these rules may result in your artwork being removed from the contest. Submissions entered electronically before June 23, 2023 may be offered the chance to re-submit, but hard copy submissions entered on June 23, 2023 will not be given this opportunity.

  13. All entries must be submitted with the following information written either in the email or on the back of the print

o   Title

o   Experience level (Our options are: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced)

o   Series and/or characters involved (Friendly reminder: you’re not limited to anime series/characters. You’ve got all of nerd-dom at your feet! Go crazy!)

o   Artist’s full name

o   Artist’s email address

o   Mediums used (Watercolour, pastel, crayon, etc.)

-          Each person can submit up to 1 piece of artwork.
